Chapter Community Service Activities
Our chapter members provide thousands of volunteer hours every year to support our community as we dedicate ourselves to historic preservation, promotion of education, and encouragement of patriotic endeavors.
Historic Preservation
|
Historic preservation and genealogy efforts are a vital component of our chapter's service activities.
We conduct lineage research for members and prospective members. Our members participate in many volunteer opportunities promoting preservation efforts by serving and contributing to local historic landmarks, cemeteries, and more in Tulsa and the surrounding communities. Our chapter raised funds and received a grant from NSDAR to restore and rededicate the WWI Doughboy sculpture at the Jack C. Montgomery VA Medical Center in Muskogee, Oklahoma.
The sculpture was originally dedicated on September 5, 1925. Our chapter began restoration in 2017 and rededicated the sculpture on November 11, 2018. |
The plaque on the front contains a symbol of "The Five Civilized Tribes" and, below that, reads:
ERECTED IN COMMEMORATION
OF MEMBERS OF THE FIVE CIVILIZED TRIBES, WHOSE RECORD OF ENLISTMENT, CONDUCT IN CAMP, AND FORTITUDE AND VALOR ON THE BATTLEFIELD, ADDED LUSTRE TO THE TRIUMPHANT VICTORY OF OUR COUNTRY IN THE WORLD WAR. |

Education
Our members are engaged in volunteer activities that promote and support education in our community. We contribute to book drives, libraries, and book clubs to support students in Tulsa. We provide supplies to local non-profits that address students' needs, Title 1 schools, and Bacone College in Muskogee, Oklahoma.

Patriotism
|
Our chapter shows pride in patriotism by participating in many volunteer activities that honor our veterans, celebrate our nation, and promote the American Spirit in our community.
Members donate personal care supplies to wounded servicewomen, participate in the Wreaths Across America commemoration, and send items to active military personnel. |
